The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) Program: Study in Canada

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) program includes 11 participating communities across Canada which are as follow:

Eligibility Criteria:


In order to qualify for the RNIP program, applicants need to fulfil specific requirements established by the involved towns. Communities may have slightly different specific needs, but common qualifying standards are as follows:

 

1. Possessing a legitimate employment offer from a participating community employer.

2. Achieving the minimal standards for English or French language proficiency.

3. Having the training, experience, and credentials needed for the position.

4. Exhibiting a desire and capacity to integrate into the community.

5. Fulfilling the minimal prerequisites for entry into Canada, such as clearing security and medical examinations.

 

Process for applicants:


1. Verify your eligibility for the Federal Criteria of the RNIP.

2. Compile the necessary paperwork, such as the curriculum vitae, cover letter, references from previous employers, language test results, and resume.

3. Find work in community by contacting employers directly or by looking for openings in the job board.

4. Verify that the job offer satisfies the requirements of the community RNIP and has the necessary 1,560 hours of qualifying work experience from the previous three years.

5. The employer sends the RNIP candidate an offer of employment on IRCC form IMM5984.

6. The applicant fills up the Community Questionnaire and submits form IMM 5911 to community RNIP in request of a community recommendation.

7. The application for a community recommendation is examined by the Economic Development Office in light of both local and federal requirements.

8. The applicant engages with the community RNIP team in a community interview.

9. The community RNIP Recommendation Committee considers applications before deciding whether to accept, reject, or postpone.

10. The Committee notifies the applicant and employer of its decision.

11. Within six months of being accepted, the candidate sends a full application to become a permanent residence to the IRCC together with community recommendation.

12. The IRCC moves forward with the assessment after verifying that the application for permanent residence is complete.

13. After the application for a temporary work permit or permanent residence is approved, the applicant and their family move to that community, assisted by the company and local agencies.
